Phone-free concerts YES or NO?

Phone-free concerts YES or NO?

The media power of a phone, and its extension in the form of social networks when we record and share photos or videos of a concert is priceless. But when our favourite artist comes down to the pit to sing next to us, the dilemma arises: is it better to live a unique moment intensely or simply record it so that we can share it later on social networks and arouse the envy of people we don't even know? Perhaps the answer lies in the balance.

In any case, from the very moment that phone torches replaced lighters, we began to see artists asking the public to stop recording and enjoy the experience. Some have even declared war on the use of phones in their shows, stopping concerts or berating the audience.

With the conviction that phone-free shows are more fun, artists are uninhibited and the audience is present allowing everyone to be swept up into a shared mood, a company called Yondr has patented a system to create phone-free spaces for artists, educators, organizations and individuals that artists such as Bob Dylan and The Lumineers are already using in their gigs.

Here’s how the process works with Yondr. Basically upon entry to a concert where this service is used, your phone is placed inside a Yondr pouch. Once inside the phone-free area, the pouch is locked. But hey, worry not because you maintain possession of your phone at all times and if you want or need to use your phone at any time, you just have to step outside the phone-free zone and tap your pouch on an unlocking base.

It is worth remembering that the highest and most beautiful things in life are not to be heard, not to be read, not to be seen, but to be lived. But what do you think?
